Euro quick, BSP and NPT fittings

Just bought the 2.5hp compressor from Aldi last week as my current one is much smaller

Anyway the two airline connectors are "Euro quick" – which seem to be the same as 1/4" BSP as on my small one but I just thought I would check on here as connectors of this size don't seem to fit tightly when test fitting my air tools. I need to order two airlines and want to make sure I order the correct ones.

Also I bought a Snap On die grinder from a fellow motorcycle forum member but it doesn't have a connector on it. The female thread is 1/4" NPT which is 19 tpi and the same size BSP is 18 tpi and I have read not to mix the two. Where can I buy a connector which has the right female thread for the grinder but a "normal" BSP or Euro quick connector at the other end?

What I thought I needed to buy were two airlines with Euro quick connectors at the compressor end and 1/4" BSP at the other end for my air tools but I'll hold fire until you chaps can better inform me

Machine Mart hold quite a range of compressor tool fittings. It might be worthwhile giving your local branch a ring.

I bought a 2hp compressor from Aldi many years ago and the only bit that has failed is the regulator. I bought a new one from Machine Mart and that is still ok. The first thing i did when i bought the compressor was change ALL the fittings to PCL connectors. If you have no luck with Machine Mart try Snap-On, I understand they do a fair bit of British and Euro stuff these days.

I changed all of mine to PCL type quick release fittings, they're cheap enough on eBay,

typically eBay item numbers 120929207852 or 110859540774

I converted my Aldi compressor to PCL connections if you have a motor factors near you many supply PCL fittings,

This firm on page 45 sells them and deliver PCL fittings fast.

Worth looking in the Cromwell tools catalogue (on line) as well. They do a whole load of pneumatic fittings. I think they also do npt-bsp adaptors as well for the sizes that need it.

Getting back to the top item above and out of interest, why should one change from euro quick fittings to PCL which I am familiar with. Are Euro quick less durable or easily damaged, they seem readily available on ebay. I have bought an Aldi compressor and then saw this item. Your comment will be much appreciated.Ted

It's probably what you already have to make everything compatable.

Up until last year I was on Shraeder fittings for the simple reason when I built the workshop and started putting in steel air lines my local scrap yard had bags of Shraeder fittings from Plessey's old factory which they demolished.

However fast forward 20 odd years and most of these were leaking and new fittings are expensive, it payed me to change over to PCL's in one go purely on cost.

Female Shraeders were £5 to £7 each, PCL's were just over a pound, male Shraeders were about £2.50 and if you bought bulk PCL's about £0.70
