I am currently rebuilding my AEW Horizon vertical milling machine, i have stripped it all down sent hours removing old oils and grime, stripped and cleaned out all the old oil and sludge from the gearboxes, i am replacing all the original O rings and seals but i cannot locate the oils indicated on the Lub charts, the machine is a late 1970s model and in great condition and appears to have had very little use, i assume the oil grades on the chart are pre ISO grades, can anybody point me in yhe right direction as to the modern replacements.
Original grades marked on chart
Shell Vitrea 41, for main gearbox drive
BP, PREP1 for table
Shell Tonna 33, for leadscrews and slides
Shell Macoma 68, table power feed gearbox
I have the manuals from Tony Griffiths for this machine but it doesnt give quantities or modern grades, dont suppose i need Shell oil just equivalents to the correct grades.
I also need to have a gearbox feed motor worm drive gear made as one is worn, anybody recommend someone for this type of work, otherwise the miller is totally original and complete.
Any help would be appreciated
Cheers Ian
