Adjustable micro dials

Interested in forum post on micro dials 11/05/2011.

 

I acquired a very old ML7 some eight years ago & my first project, which i

found very interesting, was to design & make an adjustable micro dial.

 

Methods used & manufacture turned out to be very accurate & user friendly.

All operations were carried out on the lathe.

 

I attach 2 images which i trust will be helpful to any one aspiring to make

their own adjustable dial.

Hi William that looks interesting I have been thinking of making something similar myself ,the numbers look very clear how are they manufactured and adhered? if you could send me some details that would be great

Hi David, yes you are quite right, the plastic numbers are adhesive backed which i

purchased from a local graphic’s supply shop. Supprisingly, they have stood up to the wear & tear over the last eight years quite well.

 

I deduece from your post that you already have adjustable dials?, however, if you do

require any further information on the one’s i made please let me know.
