Aciera F1, Deckel FP1 or Sixis S101 machine design

Hi Guys,

 

Wonder has anyone made his very own Deckel type table top mill?

I shall be starting my design and construction soon. It will be great if someone out there has done this project to share some light over the design.

 

Will be using my Sherline mill headstock and DC motor, the rest will be made in aluminium and steel plate or bars. No cast parts.

 

This baby Deckel will share similar structures like Swiss made Aciera F1, Deckel FP1 or Sixis S101 but not a display clone model rather work like a real Deckel with the table feed upwards and rigid enough to cut hard materials.

 

Anyone share this interest and would like to contribute, please email me.

Would need manuals of Aciera F1, Deckel FP1 or Sixis S101 as references, thanks inadvance.

I owned an Aciera F1 for a while, inherited from my Dad who bought it from his company when it closed down, they used it for making electron microscope parts.  It was a LOVELY machine, but far too small for me to make steam engines on so I sold it to a collector and bought a Myford VMB.

 

I seem to remember seeing the manual for download somewhere, though I did have a copy (sold with the machine).  I had some useful advice from David Samways at http://www.anglo-swiss-tools.co.uk/AcieraF1.html who specialises in these and might be able to supply a copy of the manual.

 

Good luck with your project, trying to reproduce one of these will be a major challenge, I look forward to seeing the result.

Thanks for your encouragement!

 

Yes! A real challenge to reproduce this wonderful small machine.

It will be a streamline version not a clone. If you have seen my success

at my 1st tool and cutter (See album) a simplified version of the Deckel SO

and Quorn.

 

The main hurdle to overcome would be the Y axis. The table will be jackup using

a screw nut, got the idea from Trent pinion cutter from Hemingway kits.com. The

other is to select the best gib whether plain strip brass plate or tapered gib.

 

Still at drawing board stage, got some manual downloads for Aciera and Deckel FP1

recently.

 

Welcomes any  suggestions or comments.

Get on  to the professional users site ‘Practical Machinist’ and search forum section . You will find a vast amount of information on these and other similar machines put in by people who have these machines in use currently and have all the manuals .
