        Hi All,

Does anyone know how to open magazines in the digital archive now that Adobe has finally dragged Flash Player.

When I select an issue I get the message saying I need to update my version of Flash Player, When I press "Get Flash Player" nothing happens – I guess because Flash Player is no longer available.

I know the ME/MEW team is working on the problem but does anyone know of a workaround in the meantime.

The conversion of the archived MEW issues seems to be dragging on. I tried to view issue 117 the other day but could only go back to 220. Don't know why I paid for digital issues!

I know we hit some technical problems with the archive conversion process that were made more difficult by Covid.

            I will chase up progress.

The oldest accessible issue in the digital archive seems to be hung-up at 180, where it was before Christmas. When are we going to be able to see all issues?

I can view all issues from No.1. Using my iPad but not with my PC running Win10

                      .

                      Strange, isn’t it question

… that the problem originates with Adobe Flash Player [which Steve Jobs refused to allow on the iPad], and yet an Apple device can open the files.

Does anyone here understand how this works ?

Hope this isn't a duplicate post as my earlier one seems to have disappeared.

Just to say I can access MEW old issues on my iMac and iPad but only by using the Chrome browser. Safari does not work.

There seems to be some reluctance to answer the question. When can we expect all MEW issues in the digital archive to be viewable on PC? The last info was from JasonB that the target was the end of the year (last year, that is).

To add to this with a more fundamental issue. The last digital MEW available is Feb. We are now up to June. While I am looking forward to the binge read it would be nice to have access to the recent mags my sub has paid for.

If there is some browser trickery needed to make the more recent issues visible then I would love to know it.

                              regards – James.

James you are best registering with Pocketmags and then activating your subscription there then you will see the latest issues. Click "digital" along the black bar towards the top of this page for details of how to do it.

I registered with Pocketmags to see the magazines but I can only see the issues since I registered. I have not been able to see the issue before then which were not posted on the Model Engineer site.

Contact Pocketmags customer service and let them know when you started the subscription and they should be able to backdate it OK.

Hi Jason I sent an email to Pocket Mags as you suggested and Pocket Mags replied ……

"Archives are managed by the publishers and this is something made available on their own websites. Unfortunately, we do not have access to their systems and hence we are unable to help with your query. We recommend that you please contact the publishers directly regarding this and they would be able to assist you further. Their contact details can be found inside the magazine or on their official websites"

All I can add to this and recommend is, that as soon as anyone takes out a digital subscription then activate it in Pocket Mags, otherwise if you delay then you cannot access those older copies …Obviously you may be able to see them on this Model Eng website….

My digital subscription started started at the end of last year, I only created a Pocket Mags account in March 2022 and cannot see Jan/Feb digital copies.

                                        Anyway, onwards and upwards….

                                        Regards

                                        Derek

What did you ask Pocketmags for? They won't give you archive access as they have said but they can backdate a subscription. See this thread from a couple of weeks ago where I advised Redpiperbob to do the same and he was able to get the mags added
