I’ve just finished a “cam stack” for a clock I’m making.
Here it is from the back. In order, an equation of time cam, sunrise, sunset and the annual calendar dial.
The whole thing probably took me longer to plot than to make, especially to synchronize the three as the cam followers are all at dfferent radial points.
I’ve fettled and calibrated the EoT and sunrise. I’ve not made the follower for sunset yet.
Here’s a side view complete with fingers for scale.
Trouble is, I will never be able to move now as the cams are specific to the Isle of Thanet.
Cheers
Steve
[Edit] When I say finished, I’m not refering to the surface. Still work to be done there.
I am not a clock maker but that looks to me to be nice work. You say you can now not move from Thanet, but I don’t see that as a serios impediment and you could possibly turn it to your advantage.
By making the clock an integral part of the sale, it would add a quirky sort of thing that Estate Agents might find an irresistible feature in the selling features for the house. Think of the bragging rights that go with that!
