Standards are falling – what can you do about it? – nothing!
There are more important things to worry about, like bombing the crap out of ISIS.
Come on chaps, where are your priorities?

As you say, we can do little about the former.

We can do nothing about the latter either – so in the meantime we are discussing the former, exercising our right to free speech and keeping politics well out of it.

Typing TEH instead of THE is a well known transposition to those who touch-type. I do it all the time and it is very annoying, but I think I know the reason why. With the fingers on the home keys the left hand index finger moves to the T which automatically moves the left centre finger over the E. It is obviously easier to depress the left centre finger than move the right index finger to the H.

          Standards are falling – ?

Standards themselves can be 'relaxed' or 'tightened' but "falling" Either something meets a standard or it doesn't.

Are we talking about the 'Standard against which the part is compared' or the 'Part itself'

          ;0)
