        Bernay.

This was one of my earlier 3D models, and I was still learning (I still am learning).

              An Olds Type "R".

              A work in progress.

A twin marine that I did early on, from an old published modeling article plan.

And so I started with this simple engine, and sort of snowballed.

You have to take baby steps at first, and it is frustrating to learn 3D modeling, but you can do a lot with it.

I use 3D modeling for work projects too.

This is a 1,500 hp blower, used in a wastewater plant.

I made some calipers that were about six feet long, and physically took the dimensions off of the real machine.

The 3D model is a rough approximation, but accurate enough for me to use for layouts and new configurations.

The payoff for me is when it is time to make patterns.

The difficult work is done in the 3D modeling program, and I can sit back and watch.

I do have a larger 3D printer on order, but who knows if I will ever get it, with today's suppy chain issues.

Here are the drawings I created for my dad's No.21 (random number I came up with to number my dad's engines) oscillating steam engine.

I used these drawings to create what was probably my first 3D models for an engine.

I will post these in case others want to give it a try with a relatively simple engine design.

This is how I created the copper lagging.

Simple and quick, with just a few steps.

Here is my slant on the frame.

There are a million ways to model the frame, and this was the method I used at the time.

Unfortunately I was not religious about saving screencaptures after every step in the beginning, so I don't have a complete cylinder sequence.

This is how I learned 3D modeling, by creating one relatively simple part at a time.
