Mods. If this is in the wrong place please move it

      Hi Everyone

I am clearing my late father's house + workshop and one of the things I have to move on is a part built Suffolk Dredging Engine.

It's probably 70% complete with chassis, wheels, engine, steel boiler plus a few other bits I don't recognise available.

I have pictures, but can't for the life of me see how to up load them

If anyone is interested please PM me

      Cheers

      Tris

Can you put an add in the for sale classifieds, it will stay there where it can be seen for longer rather than drop down out of sight as a post in a few hours and people will be able to make contact with you more easily.

                Aha! Thanks Jason

I searched the forum headers thinking for sale items would be there, and didn't spot the classified option on my tiny phone screen

                I'll get that done

                  Hi Tris,

I am sorry for your loss, your dads workmanship is first class, I have sent you a PM about the engine,

                  Rob,

Hi, the Suffolk Dredging Engine has gone to a new home near Newbury

I look forward to receiving the text to say that it's in steam and I'll make the rundown from sunny Lincolnshire to see it

It was never my passion, but I went many times to the Model Engineer Exhibition with Dad and enjoyed it

While clearing the house, I found the little pewter animals Dad bought Mum as payment for letting us go out and play🙂

                    Keep on modelling everyone

Thank you Tris for allowing me to continue your dads work, I’m still taking in his achievement, first step is to look inside the boiler and carry out a twice pressure hydraulic test, I will keep you up to date on how that goes,

                      Thanks again, Rob

It is always sad when a skilled mans workshop comes to an end and is sold off. Having bought a part built Foden under similar circumstances and not in those days understanding how boiler certification went I was to find that without the paperwork for the steel boiler which was welded by the builder. even though the welding looked good I had no hope of a certificate.

Rob, If you intend to get a certificate to steam this boiler I would speak to a club boiler inspector before doing anything.

                        Good Luck

                          Hi Noel,

I have had long conversations with my boiler inspector and I know that I won’t get this one certificated unfortunately, I will do a thorough check and if all ok hydraulic test, if happy I will steam it in private as I think it deserves to be done in Tris’s dads memory, but then I intend to build a copper boiler for the engine so I can get it certificated and use in public. Thanks for the sound advice,

                          kind regards

                          Rob,
