Hi.Can any one who is building or built a 3 1/2″ gauge Rob Roy confirm that when the boiler is fixed in position  the bottom of the boiler barrel is 5/16″ above the mainframes ( ie 1 15/16″ from centre of boiler as shown on the drawings minus half the diameter of the boiler ,1 5/8″ ) As the bottom edges of the boiler wrapper sits on the horns preventing this measurement by 1/16″.Also how do you secure the smoke box to the saddle when using the hollow casting. Regards Ian

          Hi.

Did you receive any replies to your post please?

Just to explain, I have a Rob Roy which is 95% complete.

I am trying to finish it but have some questions with which a builder of the locomotive may be able to help.

I would like to hear from you as you may be able to give me some guidance.

          Regards,

          Jeff

              Hi Cyril,
Both Blackgates and Reeves do drawings and castings for Rob Roy, mine came from Blackgates! The book is a must especially if it is a first loco which mine is.
There are several errors on the drawings, some of which are listed here . I have an air running chassis and am currently on the smokebox plumbing – fiddly stuff.

                Hi Cyril
I have a new set of Rob Roy plans surplus to my requirements
They will cost you a £10 donation to the RNLI plus £5 for my post and packing

Hi, Can anyone advise where to get a set of plans for Rob Roy 3.5 inch gauge steam engine? In fact where does one get any steam engine plans from?

                    p9010420.jpgHi Jeff.

I finished my Rob Roy & had it running on compressed air, I need to take it apart for painting ( can't build my self up for that at the moment, may be it's best to paint as you progress with the build)p9010418.jpg

                    Theres a good forum here:-**LINK**

                    regards Ian

Right at the bottom of this page is a link to MyHobbyStore Ltd where you can get the plans for many of the locos that have been published in Model Engineer. Here is a direct link to the Rob Roy plans **LINK**

Alternatively you should be able to get both the plans and castings from one of the many suppliers to the hobby e.g Reeves **LINK**
