Tickets are on sale now for The Midlands Model Engineering Exhibition which takes place from Thursday 13th to Sunday 16th October at the Warwickshire Event Centre.

We can’t wait to welcome you back to the Midlands Model Engineering Exhibition 2022 following two years of absence due to the coronavirus pandemic. We hope you are looking forward to your visit to this first model engineering exhibition post pandemic, meeting your colleagues and friends at The Show For Model Engineers.

Sadly, as many will know, this is our first Midlands Exhibition without Chris Deith, our well-known Director and founder of the exhibition, who passed away suddenly in May this year. Chris will be remembered by many in the model engineering and hobby world.

Chris presented the first Midlands Model Engineering Exhibition in 1978, at the Granby Halls, Leicester, and many visitors will have fond memories of that first exhibition. For over 40 years the Midlands Model Engineering Exhibition has been a labour of love for Chris and he gained huge pleasure in presenting the show each year.

This year we are delighted to be welcoming back nearly 40 of the leading model engineering specialist trade suppliers, all waiting to meet you in person again and provide everything you need for your modelling activities.

The exhibition showcases nearly a thousand fascinating models in the competition and display classes, clubs, societies and outside exhibits. We know that the many clubs and societies will be delighted to be back with you in person.

The team have worked hard to deliver the Midlands Model Engineering Exhibition 2022 in honour of Chris and to make sure that his legacy lives on. In his remembrance, we are introducing a new prestigious annual award for models in competition class “The Chris Deith Memorial Trophy” for Best Model in Competition Class entries.

For more information on the event and to book tickets please see here

Tickets are also available on the day of your visit from the ticket office. Please have correct cash ready or pay by card.

          Hi,

There seems to be neither mention of when internet bookings will cease, nor if pre-booked tickets will more economical than on-the-day entry.

I am unable to book early as my wife may, or may not, be able to attend – dependent on her health or NHS appointments. She would like to come but we have to wait and see…

                    Hi folks,

I will be attending the Exhibition on Friday 14th. I'm travelling up from South Wales, so I may not be there until mid-morning.

I plan to stay for most of the day, though I do need to get back in good time for an evening event.

Please don't be shy about saying hello, despite the lockdowns I still bear a passing resemblance to my 'Ed's Bench' photo!

                    Regards

                    Neil

                      Just bought mine!

Thursday but theoretically I am supposed to be helping on a stand on either Thursday or Friday – have heard nowt about it for weeks, am not sure I have the relevant contact details and this close, am likely to say, "Tough!" .

So I if necessary I may need ask if I can swap ticket-day, giving me the chance of day on the stand and a day actually viewing the show.

Then I'd need work out the relative economics of two nearly-300mile round-trips from home, or finding a night in B&B vaguely nearby.

I suspect actually, not much difference – and I have somewhere to stay overnight for £4, "only" about 100 miles from the venue.

Only one 300 mile round trip, surely?

Will be there on Thursday. The poor wallet is battered and bruised his month, so not likely to be able to take advantage of any deals that may be on offer, but very much looking forward to perusing others work for inspiration!

I was thinking he was going to the show for one day anyway, so one 300mile round trip whether or not he attended for two days. Can you explain your workings out and demonstrate where mine went wrong?

I thought the same as Mark. Attend for two days one on stand one as general visitor.

Option one drive to show and back thursday, drive to show and back on Friday – 2 round trips

Option two drive to show Thurs, stay overnight, Drive home Fri = 1 round trip + accomodation

So cost of 300miles worth of petrol Vs cost of overnight stay

Hi Bazyle, I think you must be looking at their Garden Rail Show ad, the senior tickets for the model engineering exhibition will save you £1.00, so it will cost you 50p more than you think. £11.00 for adults, £10.00 for seniors.

With regards to round trips, I agree with what JasonB has said. It's a round trip of a little over 200 miles for me, and in past time when I've entered my work, I've looked at an overnight stay, and the cost has always been higher than two round trips, but I usually had three round trips, one to take my exhibit/s, one for going to the show and one to collect my exhibits. It will just be one round trip for me this year, but don't know which day it will be yet.

                                    Regards Nick.

                                              John,

                                              I watched the video…very good.

The show looked better than I imagined. On one hand, as an visitor, I like shows that's aren't too busy, but on the other hand that's obviously not what the organisers or exhibitors want

Having organised exhibitions and 'stand manned', I do appreciate the huge amount of effort those exhibitors make…..it can be a long, tiring few days…but having lots of interested customers certainly helps ease the pain and makes it worthwhile.

Heather looked good as did the Ransomes' baler.

Steve brought his Meccano battleship shown in your report up to St Albans a couple of months ago and explained the build. It wasn't just a case of bolting the plates together as owing to the weight he designed an internal beam structure and method to easily divide it into 3 for transport.
Then he brought it up again for our club show. Amazing model 9ft long so for any bolt together metal fans there are more pictures on our website linked above.
