      Nice one Morgens.

That looks a lot simpler (and safer!) than a lot of winders.

      Russell.

        Hello all

Just wanted to update you on my projects. This link point to a video where I test the escapement

          Looking good, Mogens !!

Just one comment about the posting … People are happier if you post a link instead of the full URL [the problem with "text under the adverts"]

          MichaelG.

I will try to remember to insert a link in future postings, I can see the problem with some part of the url beeing invisble

Mogens Forgive me for criticism but going by your video I suspect

that the escape wheel is the wrong way round

The radial side of the tooth should contact the palet

It could be the angle of the camera that shows the sloping side

If I'm wrong please accept my appologies

              Roy

                Hi Roy

I've just looked around for broct escapement's, and can see that you are absolutely right – thank you for pointing this out for me.

I think the friction in the escapement will be reduced when I turn around the pallets.

                Thanks again

                Mogens

                  It looks good Morgens.

                  Are those plates stainless steel?

                  Russell.

                    Thanks Russell

No the plate is mild steel plate, if (when) the plate become gray/brown i don't mind, I love that color

                      Hi all,

Some more progress. The clock is now (almost) complete and running under it's own power. I've added a couple more pics to my album to show the current state.

I now just have to tidy it up, make some decent screws and washers to replace the grotty ones out of my scrap box. Then strip it down and polish the frames and a few other parts. I'm a bit unsure whether to lacquer the frames or to use carnuba wax which I've seen recommended. Any views on that?

One more question: I know that you have to peg the pivot holes before lacquering but is it necessary to mask small circles on the inside if the frame where the shoulder of the pivots might rub?

                      Russell.

                        .

In theory, the shoulders of the pivots should [i.e. must] never rub; so the question is pretty academic.

… For safety though; Yes, I would mask some small circles.

Finished at last. I've added a photo of the finished clock to my album. Must admit I got a local verrerie (glassworks) to make the glass case but did make the base out of a bit of teak left over from my boating days.

I think some may like to take a look at this alternative form of John Parslow's skeleton clock, this one with only feminine involvement.
