      I’ll leave it to you to work out what change of OD there is on a 12BA die when it is closed up by maybe 0.05mm. But bottom edge will still be in the same position and if you apply equal closing amounts to both screws then it will also be in the same position front to back.

      The 1.25mm diameter stock is more likely to flex to the die’s position than be cut badly

        some time back I made a lot of 3 and 5ba bolts and made two tools to run down the hex but for the life of me cannot find them but they are basically a four flute end mill with a hole through the correct dia for the die to do its job.
