Looking for info on lubricator posyion as the drawing shows it to be behind front beam, but models ive seen appear to be under the footplate, any help greatly appriciated.

An article in ME 6th July 1979 gives details of an alternative lubricator placed under the footplate.
The reason given for moving it from behind the front beam to the footplate is that there is no cover over the gap between the beam and the smoke-box, leaving the lubricator much too visible in that position.
On a related note, I have recently started building a 5″ Lion, I would like to make it more prototypical than the LBSC drawings, so was wondering if anyone knows where I can find some detailed info on the prototype?

Old Locomotive Society has really decent drawings of the real thing.

              Thanks KWIL,
A web search turned up the “Old Locomotive Committee” however I was unable to find any contact information for them nor do they appear to have a web site.
Any leads as to where I could obtain the drawings would be greatly appreciated.

Old Locomotive Committee now has a web site http://www.lionlocomotive.org.uk

This includes a comprehensive list of the Lion articles published in ME. Not just the original Titfield series by LBSC but also the various articles and letters dealing with necessary modifications and corrections made to the design by various builders over the years.

The web site also contains a list of the excellent full size drawings created by John Hawley along with his contact information. I purchased a few of his drawings and can highly recommend them.

Staying the 5″ boiler, taking measurements from the drawing dosn’t produce the correct visual spacing, the drawing show 5 rows, should this not be 6.
                      Thanks in advance.
