Hello,

I’m a fairly recent subscriber to what was MEW and now is ME&W. I’ve finally got around to joining a forum I lurked around for a long time. I enjoy the broad range of engineering topics that get discussed.

I enjoy renovating and then using old tools. I restored a Kerry Super 8 a few years back and am in the midst of adding a DRO to a round column mill at the moment.

There may be other Forum members near you.

What are you hoping to make eventually?

If you are new to machining, you will need to practice before launching into something complicated. (Make your mistakes on relatively cheap material rather than an expensive or irreplaceable piece)

Howard/Noel,

Thanks for the warm welcome. I’m based in South London, so both SMEE and Sutton Model Engineering Club are within reach.

My interests are varied, Land Rovers, model aircraft, hand tools etc.. I have some limited experience machining(self taught/learnt here!). I’ve produced some parts for old record vices, seems a good way to return old tools to use. Key lesson Cast Iron makes a mess…
