Looks like an Atlas – not sure which one. see Lathes.co.uk

I think so too; but possibly not quite Atlas.

That was an American make but British versions of the Atlas were made under the Sphere, Halifax and Acorntools labels. The Lathes.co pages suggest not Sphere though as that had the name cast onto the headstock foot. The Halifax and Acorn names were on plates screwed or drive-rivetted to the foot.

The spindle pulleys on your looks as if diecast, as original Atlas; but the UK versions were of plastic.

So I’d suggest looking at all these makes on the web-site to pin-point it.

I am no expert, but it has certain features reminiscent of an early ML7. I am sure that others are correct in saying it is an Atlas.

            Andrew.
