I bought a small motorless bench drill for small hole drilling.  Its an old English solid machine about 14ins tall and 7 front to motor mount

Having trouble finding a suitable motor. Tried 12v types but no where near powerful enough. I have a spare 1450 rpm motor but way too big and heavy all else seem to be 10 000 rpm types which would require an interesting array of pulleys! Dont really want to get involved with speed control ,expensive and I dont’do’ electrics either. Just a motor to bolt onto back.!thanks Jonathon.

You say for small hole drilling HOW  SMALL ? 10,000 is not nescessarily to fast( 1mm in alli 20,000 ) and 5000 would be a good speed for a 2mm drill bit. So your 10,000 rpm motor and a 2/1 step down to drill spindle would work fine ? Noel.

Maybe an industrial sewing machine motor? You only want 1/4hp I should think. Photo or details of make / model might help us understand the situation.

<p style=”text-align: center;”>Thanks very much. I did try a photo but seemed to be a huge zoom ! No name on machine. I was thinking of ‘normal’ drill speeds- in the hundreds. No idea what I d need thousands for. Only down to 1mm usualy.</p>
