This is rather fun. In the USA a system or company called PODS delivers a small container with a sort of gantry crane as part of the lorry.
Ignore the video subject just go to about 1min in to watch the container unload itself.

        Bazyle,

That looks cool….I haven’t seen that sort of thing before. Seems PODS are also active in the UK ….  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gLT7ZCSelkQ  …and … https://ukpods.co.uk/

I’m trying to find out a bit more about the shoogly framework that is used to lift and manoeuvre the container but no luck so far. I’m saying it is a bit shoogly but it obviously works just fine.

No idea on the weight limit but PODS do give a list of container sizes …. https://ukpods.co.uk/container-storage-in-manchester/pods-container-sizes/

Seems the framework is called PODzilla, with the hydraulics powered by a Honda engine … https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_GBMmoKXFiQ

Ah, found some more info on the PODS website…. ‘PODZilla Lift System’ –

Edit: Some more info on the Florida based PODS company … https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PODS_(company)

PODS was founded in 1998 by Peter Warhurst who was looking to expand his family’s storage business. He invented PODS containers, as well as a hydraulic lift system that enables operators to easily deliver and transport the units, which he named PODZILLA.’

Interesting ! Far to complicated and in the hands of a careless operator soon damaged or wrecked. I adapted a skip handler years ago to do a similar task, far quicker and far less to go wrong. Like any specialist equipment it is designed to meet a specific need but often not good in certain scenarios ! Noel.

Must confess to being a little disappointed

… I took your words too literally 🙁

              [ after which reality-check, yes it’s impressive … thanks ]

Looks a bit wimsical swinging around on chains. A skip lorry (if you’re from the states probly a dumpster truck) would be a simpler way to go. I can’t believe the driver left his lorry across the end of a side street while moving the container.
