I’m thinking of putting one of these on my little battery loco. I can get either a 50A or a 10A shunt. The MCB is rated at 50A. Presumably the 100A has lower resistance, and I’m not looking for super accuracy, so that looks like the better bet?

Both the shunts drop the same voltage at full current, 0.075 V This is not a lot in a 12 or 24 V system but the 100A will drop 0.0375 at your MCB rating of 50A . The description says the resolution is 0.1A for both so no advantage there.
Apart from lower voltage drop the 100A one will let you see if the current is higher than the MCB rating.

I’d get the 100A out of those two

If cost was no object I’d use a Hall effect sensor as they don’t drop any voltage (I have some in stock).
