      Good morning,

      I need to make some tyres for a model traction engine from rubber strip approximately 10mm x 2mm.  The material I’ve found all seems to be “neoprene” rubber.  The question is, can I butt join it with CA glue?  If so, any recommendations, or will any CA glue fit the bill?

        We use Loctite 406 for gluing neoprene sponge cord. Not sure what quantities it is available in – we use 20g bottles but they are probably expensive for a one-off job.

          You are, of course, correct to butt-joint … CA is generally too brittle for scarf-joints that are flexed.

          The cheap CyanoAcrylates are much less sophisticated than the good ones, so it’s probably worth spending the extra for a job like this.

          The best I have used recently is Loctite Super Glue Original
