first take it up the garage and jet wash as much as you can. then home to wire brush and scraper. you will get very dirty and wonder why you started. you will then need to get the welder out. as for paint what ever you chose someone will say its good someone will say its bad. best of luck i wish you all the best.

Quite a lot of folk in the Landrover world use a lanolin spray these days, though I’ve not tried it myself; I’ve been using ACF50 & Corrosion block, but they are an annual treatment
