      The Midlands Model Engineering Exhibition
      Thursday 17th to Sunday 20th October 2024
      Warwickshire Event Centre

      THE Show for Model Engineers

We look forward to welcoming you to one of the UK’s largest model engineering exhibitions.

There will be over 30 clubs and societies present displaying hundreds of exhibits covering a wide range of modelling skills.

There will also be nearly 40 of the leading model engineering specialist trade suppliers, all waiting to meet you and provide everything you need for your modelling activities.

SMEE will be presenting some practical workshops again this year which will focus on a beginner’s project Elmers No 19.  Over the duration of the exhibition the team plan to make multiple sets of the parts and build a number of running examples as the show progresses. This is the model in more detail. https://www.journeymans-workshop.uk/elmer19.php

For the more experienced model engineer there will also be demonstrations of more complex techniques as well as a range of their famous models on display and a chance to meet the members and learn about their training courses, programme of meetings and membership.

The competition and display entries are now open, and the entry form can also be downloaded from the website.

The lecture program is also shaping up and the full schedule will be announced soon!

This unique exhibition is the result of a tremendous amount of effort by many hundreds of modellers and other enthusiasts.

A full list of confirmed exhibitors to date is available at http://www.midlandsmodelengineering.co.uk as well as the competition entry form and advance tickets!

If you would like to enter your own work, please see the entry form on the website.

Might want to add the position of the 3mm hole between the long air pass and the cylinder rather than spend the 4 days depating it’s position.😉

Good to see SMEE will be using a metric engine which should be better for beginners to understand. But start them off with drawings that show what is needed. They can find out what ME drawings are really like once they have been hooked.

I think you can work out the position of the hole from the dimension on the cylinder block (sheet 3). I’ll see if I can add it in if I can find the original Alibre drawing😄

I’ve not been to one of these types of shows for many years. I used to go to the Sandown show every year. It’s quite a trek for me but I’m hoping to go to this one.

I hope they put the shuttle bus to the station back on, taxi is not cheap and public service bus eats into the time at the exhibition

The Stagecoach service No.64 (to Rugby) from outside All Saints Church in Leamington will take you to the exhibition. The bus stop is a few mins walk from the station and if you have a bus pass it is free but, if you don’t, it will be a maximum of £2 each way. Turn left out of the station, walk under the girder bridge and turn left at the traffic lights (there is a snicket under the station signposted for the town centre but it’s six of one and a half dozen of the other as far as distance is concerned). The church and bus stop are about 200 yards from the traffic lights on your right.

The No.64 doesn’t stop as close to the showground as the shuttle bus will, again its a few minutes walk across the car park, but you can see the events centre from the bus stop near the roundabout. The return bus stop is exactly opposite on the other side of the road but there is no sign, (or at least there hasn’t been for the last two years). You can download the Stagecoach app to your phone for the bus times.

A huge flat area that holds countless vehicles. depending on luck you may have a couple of hundred yards to walk but no problem. Noel.

Thanks both. Still not sure if I can make the show yet but I don’t want to drive for over two hours only to have trouble parking! 😉

The only problem you might have is if we a lot of rain prior to the event, parts of the car park can turn into a quagmire. Also drive very slowly as you go along the main drive in,  as the last few times I’ve been it was full of large potholes.

Hi Vic, in all the years I’ve been going to this show, I’ve never seen the parking area for visitors absolutely full or even near it being full, but as Andrew has said, you may have a longish walk from your car to the entrance, depending on what time you get there.

                                      Regards Nick.

For those of you who have an interest in foundrywork I will be there, and on the Thursday afternoon at 2:15 will be giving a talk. The areas I cover will be largely down to what people want, seemly may be a bit backwards, I will start with questions. This will guide me as to where we go from there, be it building a furnace, or the many facets of running a small foundry. Since it is the last talk of the day my time will be yours for as long as we need, BUT the show closes at 5 !

I will NOT be running the furnace as I used to do. Noel.

PS,Hi Vic as others have said I have never seen the carpark full, I would not worry about the parking. As early comers leave at may be 1pm you may get lucky and only have a short walk eg 100yds. N

As others have said, there is plenty of parking, but it is mostly on grass with hard surfaced drives between. When I went to the Garden railway show in March it was too wet to park on the grass so parking was alongside the roads with one side of the car on the grass. Some people seemed to have trouble with this!
