I’ve bought loads of fasteners on eBay over the years and not had any problems. This week though I’ve had two orders go awry. I ordered some Zinc Plated socket screws and Black Oxide ones arrived (luckily the correct size), then these turned up.

These are what I ordered:

You wanted washer faced nuts. What you received were self locking washer faced nuts.

Is the fact that they are less likely to slacken a problem?

The “nylon” locking will reduce clamp load, by absorbing some of the applied torque to overcome the friction.

You could slightly increase the applied torque to compensate for this.

Will this be a problem?

Presumably the A2 stainless of the ones you ordered is a significant feature.

No amount of re-work will change the material

They’ve simply sent you the wrong near-enough (sic) item.

…I would be irritated too, Vic.
