I am a steam driver on the NYMR and this is my 50th year on the plate, I started on steam in Albert park, Middlesbrough on 5inch gauge and its been my dream to own one ever since. I have just purchased a 90% complete Prairie and am finishing it off, almost there now, I live in Whitby, NTH YORKS, cheers Simon

Hi Simon, welcome to the forum. I’ve visited the NYMR a few times, the last time was the 2009 Spring Steam Gala, when they featured the Tornado, and got to rid behind it from Goathland back to Pickering, arriving at 17.40 on the 4th May, where I’d parked my car a short distance away.

Hope you get your Prairie finished and can show a photo of it.

            Regards Nick.

My father was one and retired just before diesel arrived(diff country narrow guage rails), there were huge electric locomotives. He always had some interesting stories to tell. They had some dissiplined work, long hours.
