I’ve got some similar cutters; used for cutting acute V-shaped grooves. I used one of mine for grooving the rims for the rear wheels on my traction engines to make it look like they were made from two rings held together by the strakes, as per full size. No idea what the cutters would have been used for industrially.

If it was a rack cutter I’d expect the cutter to have information on the side relating to the DP/Module as a minimum?

Its info is given as “3 x.125 x 1” A regular slitting saw or side and face cutter would just have the width so what is the 1 indicating?

edit DOH it’s the hole size of course.

I guess just general purpose grooves – like for mass producing clockmaker’s finger plates, count wheels for synchronome slaves, detent wheels on rotary encoders.

I’d guess some sort of shaving/finishing cutter, judging by the number of teeth and reactively small gullet for chip clearance.  As I say, just a guess.  But as to what for, no idea I’m afraid.

Vice-jaw grooves… also oil-retaining grooves on large, flat sliding surfaces?
