      Hi All,

just got an email saying that my annual Norton 360 Premium renewal is due soon at £99.99!

I have been with Norton for years and am happy with the product.

I mainly use the Password Manager, Backup, & Virus Protection on my desktop computer only.

i see that as a new user I can get the same product online from many sources for only £25 or so; this seems like another example of loyal customers being held to ransom over new business.

obviously I have a Norton account with my payment card details etc lodged there.

my query is: if I cancel my auto renewal and let the licence expire and register the “new” product will I still be able to access my passwords and backups etc on the original account?

      any help gratefully received.

      Cheers, Martin

If you are using a PC,  the windows security software seems to work pretty well (touch wood).

Windows defender is now well recommend, you’ll find Norton as spread around your computer and will member your subscription and I recon it will be difficult to ‘start over’.

Ni Martin, I get this every year, and I normally cancel the auto renewal about a couple of weeks before it’s due, but this last time they took the payment earlier than I expected, but you can cancel and get a refund if you do it before the new subscription starts, which I did, as I had already bought a new one from a high street store for £18.00, as opposed for £89.00 for the auto renewal. The only downside is that you have to log on to your account, and put the code in, and then activate it, and then load it back onto your devices. It’s a little bit of a rigmarole, but I find it worth doing, and you don’t lose any passwords or anything. When I cancelled my auto renew, they offered the renewal at a much lower price, but no where near the £18.00 that I paid, and my new subscription works just the same, and I get all the same features and up-dates, mine is their 360 Deluxe for 5 devices.

            Regards Nick.

              Nick,

thanks very much for that info.

My main concern was that I would lose all my password manager information.

So what you are saying is that my “old” account will still exist with my settings etc?

              Cheers, Martin

Hi Martin, obviously I don’t know what settings you have, as far as I’m aware, as long as you don’t uninstall the one you have, and you put the same back on, you shouldn’t lose anything. I actually did mine the day after mine ran out and everything was just the same when I downloaded the new one. You can upload you new subscription code and activate it before your old one runs out, as each licence only starts when you actually download and run them, but do remember to cancel the auto renew before they take the new payment, I’ll do mine at least a mouth before mine runs out this year.

When you click on the Norton icon, their information box comes up, and by clicking on the help button, at the bottom right hand side you will see a link to enter your product key.

If you are on the “Run Smart Scan” page, the help button is the ? in the little circle in the black section on the left hand side, but that doesn’t show a link to enter a new product key.

                Regards Nick.
