I have been setting up my workshop for my retirement in 3 years time. I have a Colchester Bantam lathe  which runs on a VSD and am in the process of building a hybrid Harrisson Vertical mill with a Beaver VBRP Mk1 head attached. Machine has had full strip and nut and bolt rebuild, including repaint and 2 new VSD. Lathe has been running for a few years but mill will hopefully be finished in the spring. I wish I had chosen a Bridgeport head due to the spare part situation being far better than the Beaver but was committed after I made the head conversion adaptor at work and now am not in a situation to repeat for a different head. Beaver has proved a challenge to say the least but hey we all like a challenge!!

If anyone has a Mk1 VBRP and can help with any parts or the chance of me actually seeing another VBRP in the flesh that would be great.

Myself & my grandson Thomas are building a LMS 2f locomotive in 5″ gauge and to add to our workshop equipment. I have decided to build the Harry Hall Advanced Grinding Rest, just started on it.

We have a Myford ML7  3 phase with gearbox and a Warco Super Major Vario Milling machine which is a lovely piece of kit.

We also run a 5″ gauge Standard 4 Tank engine and a J94 Saddle tank. Plus doing all the maintenance on them.

The biggest challenge is the Twin Sisters LMS 2f hoping to get to a rolling chassis this summer.
