I”m building Minnie using Len Mason”s excellent book BUT – on page 147 he says “A way of making really small neat looking valves was described in Model Engineer of 18th August 1967… etc”.  End of story!!
I do not have a copy of the mag nor can find a reprint on the web.  Has anyone got a pdf of the article or can tell me where to find one?

I just made mine to the drawings and it works OK, think It may have taken two attempts as I got too much silversolder in it first time round

            Hi Dave,

Well, that issue should be in the box downstairs, and failing that the Auckland SME will have it. I will see if I can dig it out. As you will gather I am not too far away from you, globally speaking.

Ok, that didn’t take long to find. Do you want to provide me with an email address? Use at instead of @, not sure if it helps to fool the spam bots but it is worth a try.

The valve in question has a body quarter of an inch diameter, shown with a flange one side and a union the other, but the same thing could be done with two unions I guess. It does conform to the modern idea that you can’t just screw the spindle right out. It looks reasonably fiddly to make, and the job depends on keeping the easiflo out from where it is not wanted….you might be able to improve things there by using the twink idea on bits you want to keep clear.

              regards

The scan should be in your email inbox by now, unless the spam filter grabbed it on the way past.
