I should be getting my new to me any way myford s7

in about 2 weeks

its a power cross feed version

ive been looking at this toolpost

and ive asked at a few forums about it

the model 100 toolpost will this fit if i make a top hat type adapter 7/16bsf threaded

ive tried the dickson type toolpost and ive not got on very well with it

on my chineese lathe

not sure if it because ive only got the use of 1 arm thought this might be easier

please help me to see if it will fit

so i can purchase ready for when i get the machine

Hi Colin

What did you find difficult with the Dickson toolpost on your Chinese machine?

I use one of these very successfully on my S7 – the only mod I’ve made is to replace the clamping nut with a permanent locking lever which allows easy positioning without searching for a spanner. Oh yes and buy lots of tool boats!

Sorry I don’t have knowledge of the ARC toolpost but from the photo it doesn’t look as substantial as the Dickson.

sorry i didnt make my self very clear it was a dickson type toolpost the chineese copy version

and a new real version is beyond my price range

Hi Colin

I recently bought a set of 5 tool
holders from Chronos ;-

They work fine with my “Dickson” block. I know
there has been some adverse comment on this forum about “cheap copies”
generally but I can only speak from my personal experience and I find
them wholly acceptable.

Whatever you decide I’m sure you
will not regret getting the S7.

I’ve had mine about a year and
I love it!

My No2 son, who is a bit of a wag, sent me a T
shirt on which he had printed ” Myford Super 7 – Dad’s New Lathee
Friend” My wife thinks he has got it just right!
