Is there anyone out there that would be able to make patterns from drawings and cast Tracks for 1/8 scale tiger tank (approx 200 track links)

What sort of size components are you needing? My guess is lost wax may be the answer to what you require.

I have used a few suppliers to make patterns and also to cast in lost wax.  I have used both ordinary wood patterns and rapid prototypes from my own 3D drawings>>

I keep musing about making a Bren (Universal) Carrier or A Light Tank Mk. IV  – both a bit easier than a Tiger

I must be honest it’s the thought of making all those links that puts me off.

I’d appreciate an idea of the cost for, say, 100 links.

With lost wax you wouldn’t cast pieces that size one at a time. You’d create a “tree” to allow umpteen to be cast at once. Message me if you need more info.

Just a thought could you purchase just the tracks from one of the firms that make the large scale tanks such as Mark 1 Tank ? they look quite close to scale and would save on having to make patterns etc

Edit, just looked at your album, you probably want an exact replica judging by the quality of what you have done so far.

My memory of Tigers lacks precision and my knowledge of lost
wax is minute but it does seem to me that some contributors have
failed to grasp the size of these track links.  Please Tigerman, could
we have an indication.  Then again do you want them cast in steel    or
iron?  It seems to me that iron castings would not survive very long.
You must be expecting the vehicle to weigh about 1 ton.

Probably about 3-4″ wide each link bit too long ago to remember the sizes from my 1:35 plastic days.

SG Iron may be the way to go not likely to crack as easily as grey cast.

Since my last post, I have read a bit and done some sums.  Jason is
very close, track width is just over 3.5″.  Weight is nearer a tonne than a
ton, although Tigerman seems to have used ali in some places looking
                             at the photos.

My apologies for underestimating the sizes of the track links. A conventional pattern would suffice but for circa 200 you might need to monitor the wear on the pattern from the sand.
