          Don’t think it exists

Smallest measured UNC is 1/4″ and below that its numbered and there is not a size equal to 5/32″ it will have to be the smaller 6-32 @ 0.138″ or the larger 8-32@ 0.164.

Either way you will have a job finding it here, better off in the USA.

M4 would be the best bet for off the shelf studding, bolts a bit harder to find, virtually the same dia but a bit finer thread.

              No

Although the diameter is only a few thou larger the pitch at 0.7mm gives 36tpi and not 32.

As the thread does not actually exist can you post the details of what you have got as it must be something other than UNC. eg overall diameter ( to nearest 0.001″), pitch or tpi, thread angle though it may be a bit small to be exact

You can get a 5/32″ x 32tpi cycle thread but you will have to make your own studding/nuts & bolts. The thread form is a little bit different but I think that will be as close as you are going to get.

Tracy tools will have suitable taps & dies

                  Hi
I don’t raly have all that information a bit technical for me. I went to an engineering suppliers. they had a 3/4 inch hexhead bolt with the same thread but told me that was the longest they could get, so it definetly  is available it’s just the length.
They were the ones that told me it was a 5/32 unc.
Can you tell me where I can get the cycle threads all I need is the threaded bar.
What it is for is I have archery arrow inserts and want to cut them into three and join them with the bar. Thanks a lot for the help.

Well a quick Google of “Threaded arrow Inserts” would seem to indicate that the thread is 8-32 UNC as I first suggested and not the non existant 5/32″ UNC.

You will have a job finding studding (threaded rod) this size in teh UK. Bolt wise Modelfixings only do cap head bolts upto 1 1/2″ long in that thread but maybe if you now do some searching for 8-32UNC you will turn something up.

The other alternative is to buy a die and cut your own thread on some 4mm rod which although a little small on diameter should be OK.

You can buy the dies here

Meccano threaded rod and nuts are 5/32 BSW and is available relatively cheaply from the online suppliers.  Whitworth threads are often substituted by UNC so I see no problem with using this Meccano standard Whitworth.

There are taps and dies available at decent prices off he internet. For the threaded rod (studding) up to 11 1/2″ long, look for part numbers 78 onwards depending on the length you need.  You can get both square nuts (which is a traditional shape for antique models) or Hex nuts.

I have used this guy for Meccano stuff, He is fair, honest and has good prices and postage:

                              Also:

He has a wider range but more expensive.

                              5/32 Whit Taps etc  from:

My only connection with these guys is as a very satisfied customer.

                                  Hi,
Did’nt realise they were in the u.s. I’ll try the meccano threaded bar then thanks for the links. The closest i got was 1 1/2 inch hex head bolts which would do as I’m gonna epoxy one end but there 49p each, but I’d rather it was the full length.

The guy on the first link has screwed rod at 3 1/2″ long (part No 80a) for 50p.  Not sure if he’d ship to theStates but I think he would, if you have difficulty and struggle to find some let me know I can probably find you some amongst my collection.  In fact I know I can The Airmail would be negligible.
