I was interested in the article in the latest Model Engineer mag about the use of PTFE gaskets on a model steam engine. I have bought some material to have a go.
I notice that one side is a mat finish and the other is glossy. Does it matter which way round the gaskets are used?
      Thank you
      Brian

          Hi There
Can’t see that it matters in the slightest.
What thickness did you get and where from?
          regards David

I got my PTFE from Ebay from davis plastics. Excellent service. I  bought .25mm and .5mm as in ME. Mag.
If it does not matter which way round why make it with one shiny side and one mat?

Matt side inside, polished side outside. Easier to keep clean.

                    Regards  Ian.
