Once again everyone within reach of South Norfolk is invited to Model Engineers' Day (our 24th) at the Forncett Steam Museum.

This year's event will be on Sunday 2nd October and we are anticipating as good a display as usual – both work in progress and finished models – including exhibits from a number of contributors to this forum.

We plan to repeat last year's very successful road run, when 15 assorted miniature engines steamed to the nearby tank museum.

New exhibitors are always welcome. I'll be pleased to send you details and an entry form if you let me have your e-mail address.

More details of the museum are on our (new) website: http://www.forncettsteammuseum.co.uk/

      Hope to see you there.

      Bill.

I am planning to be there; I might even be allowed to exhibit some work in progress. smile o

If so, I'm planning on bringing my wheel building jig, wheels in progress, water pumps, eccentric straps and sheaves and some parts I am currently working on using the hydraulic copy unit on the lathe. If all goes to plan I might even have a video of the copy unit in action.

            Bill,

Thats a date I musn't forget, I will come as a spectator, lived in Suffolk as a lad and never visited, didn't know it existed, about 92 miles for me but worth a journey.

              Andrew,

What do you mean 'might be allowed to exhibit some work in progress'? You will be expected to exhibit some WIP! One of the highlights of Model Engineers' Day is seeing what you are up to and how you are doing it.

              Martin,

Looking forward to seeing you. Free cup of tea for the furthest travelled.

              Bill.

Already sent my entry form off and hoping for a free cup of tea after 130.6 miles (if I go the short way!)

Thanks for the heads up on this forthcoming event, I only live about 40 miles away and had no idea that it is taking place.

Now marked on my calendar and I will definitely be there.

Less than two weeks to Model Engineers' Day at Forncett on 2nd October. If you didn't make it to MEX – or even if you did – and live in the east, come and get a 'dose' of model engineering.

We've got a great line up of exhibits – and exhibitors – both indoors in the smaller scales and outside in the larger ones. At the last count, 17 'miniatures' should be taking part in the road run.

More details in the first post on this thread.

                      Hope to see you there.

                      Bill.

I really enjoyed my visit today; great to meet some old and new friends. Marvelous engines of all sizes on show.

                        Cheers,

Thanks Rod and thanks to everyone who exhibited. It was a great day for the museum. Lots of lovely models and parts thereof to see and lots of people to talk to. The procession of miniature engines on the road was quite a sight, with a couple of full sized engines plus a quartet of beautiful Stanley steam cars also in attendance.

Hope to see you next year.

                          Bill.

Hi Jason – I did! Sue took the pics but I haven't looked at them yet. Maybe later. 'Steam Boat Willy's' friend took a lot too and he said he would put them up on MEM.

Bill (Starling) pulled another great day out of the hat. Despite some really dreadful weather on the Saturday and early Sunday by 9.30 the sun was out and everyone had a great time. Just one question remains – What can we do to convince you to come and join us. smiley

                              Regards – Ramon

PS had some great runs of the Atomatics wink

I to enjoyed my first visit (I think father did to), very friendly and laid back show and museum. Got lost going had to ask friendly farmer for directions (could not find brown sign on main road!) then left memory card out of camera. Had a nice piece of cake, cup of tea and a chat with Andrew.

Many thanks Bill and Rowan (the museums founder) for a wonderful day and more thanks to Rowan and his wife for the two nights B&B that me and my wife enjoyed. Its a long way from Mansfield in Nottinghamshire to Forncett St Mary in Norfolk by 1931 Austin Seven!

I took a lot of pictures but need to sort them out.

Hi all, sorry, I haven't been here for a while.

Just to say, another fantastic day!

I had my new (to me) 3" Burrell, and I had to rush about fairly when called to demonstrate the Victorian lineshaft workshop – thank you to James for looking after it for me when called away…I know you really hated riding around the sitewink

A brilliant turnout of just about everything you could want to imagine – the Stanleys were stunning!

If some of you think you travelled, we had an American visit. I think he is going to take a Lykomobile home with him he was that fascinated with Ray's.

For those able to make it, don't forget LOWMEX on the 22nd and 23rd of October – we will all meet up again!
