      Hi all,

I and the good lady went to the Shrewsbury Steam Rally last Monday 25 Aug 14, got to say the weather was awful but that was the only poor thing about the show. We'd never been before but we will go again, it was brilliant.

I've posted a few photographs in the album section.

      Regards,

      IDP

Thanks for the photos IDP, I have often wondered if that was a show worth the effort of getting there. Have you been to the Malpas Yesteryear Rally ? This one is a really good show with around 25 traction engines plus lots of 3 & 4" jobbies, everything else from pedal bikes to combine harvesters, best have a look at there website.

I have no connection to them, just someone who has a great day out there.

          Cheers Dek.

            Hi Magpie,

Never been to the Malpass Yesteryear Rally, in fact I'll have to look it up.

The Shrewsbury event had dozens of traction engines, wagons etc both full size and scale. Everything from old cars to more modern [70's era], pushbikes, fairground rides; it really was a good day out. One or two trade stands not many but enough to keep a skip raider like me happy, managed to pick up a couple of bargains, one of which was a wall-papering brush ~~~ not so sure about that one.

One thing which impressed me was there seemed to be a lack of over the top supervision by enthusiastic marshals, a very relaxed atmosphere with some young people driving too. I have posted in the past re model engineering exhibitions and that somehow I don't always feel that I get value for money when visiting them, not so with this show, £12 well spent ~~~~ I like you have no connection with the organisers other than as a satisfied visitor.

            Regards,

            IDP
