Dear Members, let me first of all appologise if my query has been posted in the wrong section.

My question to you all, is,from the attached photographs is anyone able to tell me who manufactured the kit,as it does seem to have been built using a kit of parts, and does it have name etc.etc.

        http://s1178.photobucket.com/albums/x375/TSDAVE1/

Any information would be very much appreciated,as I am in the process of completely refurbishing the engine.

        Rgards,

        Dave.

              Hi Dave

It bears many similarities to the Stuart S50 but how big is it?

              Regards

Dear NJH, I must admit it does look similar to the Stuart S50,but not quite as I see it,maybe wrong though.

The baseplate casting is 285mm.x110mm. o/a.

                Regards, Dave.

Should have said NJH, that the base casting is a seperate casting to the main shaft carrier bearings and piston guide/slide mechanism.

                  Regards, Dave.

Hi Maurice, are you sure, as the baseplate on the engine I have is 11 1/4″ in length and 4 1/4″ wide.
Do you know if the engine you have in mind is shown in the latest Stuart catalogue as I can’t find it in the one I have, but addmittedly it is 3 years old.
Thanks for your thoughts on the subject Maurice.

                        Regards, Dave.

Hi Maurice, thank you for your further information, and being as I have stripped the engine down completely since I took the photo’s,I have reffered to your sizes and give you the sizes of my engine.

                              Flywheel – 128mm. dia.x27mm. face with 6 spokes.

                              Piston diameter – 32mm. with a 38mm.stroke.

Still not convinced that it is a Stuart, but I do respect your views, and by the way I am 70 years old at the end of next week, also “ouch”.

                              Regards, Dave.

Hi Maurice,me again, with half an appology,as I have just seen the engine like the one you must be talking about, for sale on Ebay,a Stuart Turner S50.
Again quite a bit smaller than mine, but probably the same size that you built, and the layout is very similar if not identical.
How odd therefore that the engine I have is so much larger.

                                Best regards, Dave.

Didnt Clarkson produce castings for a mill engine about that size, i may be wong but im sure i have seen one.

                                  Regards Rob.

Hi to all who have replied to my thread, and thanks for your time and inputs.

The observation that I have to make, considering my and members general thoughts is that the engine I have is some sort of “blown up” S50, manufactured by a company other than Stuart.

I would still appreciate thoughts from members who have yet to read my thread,as I am more and more intrigued now than before.

                                    Regards, Dave.

Any more thoughts on what engine I appear to have in my workshop,”please”.
