I am a retired marine engineer with a history of always having to do diy instead of what I would like to have been doing.
I have been building up workshop tools for a long time and am the proud owner of an ex school Boxford model B ( I think) which is superb especially after retrofitting an inverter controlled motor. My other success is a very ancient Herbert bench drill now powered by a hoover washing machine motor which gives a huge spindle speed range. That speed control I’m sure I read about in model engineer workshop 20 ish years ago? It is fitted with an Axminster compound table and I use it for milling really quite successfully.

I have not done any model engineering as such but tend to be constantly modifying things to make them better, always enjoy working wood as well as metal.

looking forwards to much more workshop time!

                Hello Peter, and Welcome!

LOTS of experience and skill on here, on all sorts of subjects, so don't be afraid to ask.

                Whereabouts are you located?

If you are not already a member, it will be worth finding and joining a local model Engineering Club.

There you will find like minded individuals, who can give face to face advice, mand possibly demonstration, if you have a problem..
