Hi to every

Allow me to introduce myself I am an engineer of great age according to my family ,but it suddenly occurred to me I have developed a vast knowledge of machining techniques over the years not on brand knew state of the art machines but on clapped out old rattlers especially when i worked in Canada which must be the dumping ground for machines the world over,but we still had to do our work with what we had and as lve helped a lot of people who work around me I thought it was about time to try and help others with any tips i can offer.

Hello David, and Welcome.

Am sure that many readers will be pleased to learn from your experiences of older machinery.

The techniques that "fix" old machines can still be used on newer equipment.

Young dogs can always learn old tricks!

Welcome to the forum David.

CAD/CAM is all very well but I have the uncomfortable feeling lots of hobby-useful tricks are gradually fading away. So yes please to old techniques and anything else you can explain: invaluable.

On this forum it is usual practice, that anyone requiring information (help) just starts a thread & asks.

Hi David. Welcome. All advise is welcome if it helps someone overcome a problem. As are tricks learnt over many years.

All you need to do is watch the subjects come up in the latest forum posts. If you can help just chip in and add posting. Best to read the original post and any answers to get your bearings before posting.

As for this forum, no links or posts linking to sellers who may be supplying goods not properly covered by UK safety or consumer legislation, or politics and be nice to ppl.#

Welcome along David, you are right re old machine tools going to Canada as I once worked at a UK company that sold off a few old spark erosion machines to Canada. I had the pleasure of a trade trip to visit toolmaking companies around Toronto and Windsor where they had some nice modern kit as well as very old stuff. Enjoy the forum.
