I am an enthusiastic DIYer and just acquired this lathe, it will be a few weeks before I get to use it as it requires a good bit of restoration.

I don`t have any `trade qualifications` but enjoy most anything thats mechanical.

I live in Scotland and retired.

Hi Stan welcome to the forum. What sort of parts do you make.

When you start to use it ,there will probably be many questions you have. Ask away on here . Lots of knowledge.

            By the way welcome.

            Steve.

David as yet not making anything, just got the lathe so going to be a learning curve.

Welcome to the forum. Looks like you have a decent set of accessories there but you need to do some rust removal.

My preferred weapon is citric acid which can be bought as a little box of powder from the chemists. Mix it in some hot water and leave the parts to soak, maybe 30 mins for light rust, a lot longer for heavy rust, then attack it a mild scourer (e.g. a green pan scrubbing pad) or maybe a brass wire brush (the kind sold for use on suede).

Others may prefer products like Evaporust.

Your motor looks non original – nothing wrong with that though provided it works OK and may be more suited to continuous use than the original.

The accessories will be secondary to getting the lathe back to working, then I can work out what the rest is for.

I agree the motor is not original especially the way it has been wired up.
