                      Welcome!

Don't be afraid to ask. There are lots of folks on here with huge amounts of experience in all sorts of field. And they are willing to help newcomers.

There is a lot to be learned, just by reading the various posts. You may not need the info, immediately, but like the materials that we all hoard, "It will come in handy one day"

Sometimes, the solution to someone else's problem can be read across to solve yours when it arises.

None of us know everything, so you may be able to contribute help and advice to another poster.

                        Thanks Howard

Yes will work my way through some threads as time permits and of course I am more than willing to share what I know (limited), my time has been spent mainly in fabrication/welding.

I'm smart enough to know that there is always more of everything to learn smiley

Thanks Neil, there appears to be a wealth of experience here yes. Welding like most things ….plenty of practice.

I remember as a young lad getting a job as a welders mate, in the college holidays. It was on a gas plant near Barrow-In Furness. Anyway I asked this old pipe welder "What makes a good welder?" he replied "Having a good grinder"! laugh

Dibnah, he may have said it in a jokey way that makes you think of grinding off bad weld, but he could be referring to weld prep on the base metals. What sounds as a joke to a novice can have deeper meaning to the pro.

yesYes it was very subtle and only with experience some time later I could revisit his words with another meaning.
