        Hi there. New to this site and like tinkering with anything engineering wise. in light of recent events iam looking for a nice little super 7 to get the brain working and occupy my new found free time(thanks covid). I’ll be trolling through the classifieds for a nice super 7 with a norton box. I must say I will pay good money for a nice lathe but not interested in entertaining overpriced eBay robbing chancers.

        happy friday

          Hi, Damien, you must be optimistic, trying to get a Myford where you live. There can't be many on offer there. Due to the popularity and abundance of spares in the UK, Myfords always sell for premium prices here. There is a top of the range Super 7 model in new condition going for £7500 at the moment, nice, but it won't do anything that an Atlas in similar condition would be capable of.

            Rare to find one here alright. It’s no drama to pallet one over from Uk. This will be my only option.

              Hello Damien and welcome. Possibly easier to obtain for you would be a Southbend. A little larger capacity than a Myford but that always comes in handy.

              If you really want to stick with a Myford, here are just a couple of sites, as well as this one of course;

                You don't say where you are "across the pond" Damien … Canada?, USA? S. America?

                In Canada, used Myfords, while perhaps not plentiful, are often to be had. If you are in an urban centre it helps. Try Kijiji or Craigslist.

                Don't know about US … I suspect it's more difficult there but you could try Craigslist.

                You could also put a want-ad in Craiglist/Kijiji.

                      Sorry Damien … never heard the Irish Sea described as "the pond" before. It's always been reserved for the Atlantic in my experience. You learn something new …..

                          Dont think you will see much on Done Deal.

                          There is a place in Longford called Kenquip, I think, might be worth a look.

                            Sorry Damian

                            , my link was to a Myford 7 with screw cutting gearbox advertised on Donedeal. But it seems the lathe is sold, or at least no longer on the site, so the link went to the generic site.

                            I have attempted to purchase 5 or 6 small lathes from Donedeal and from other sites in the past year and in each case the lathe was sold before i could get there, usually within 24 hrs. In the end i gave up and bought Chinese, which i am happy with.

                            Good luck with the searching

                              I noticed currently there are a couple of Myford super 7 lathes on offer at the quillstar.co.uk site, if this helps ?

                                Which pond? Irish Sea or the Atlantic?

                                  No experience of this chap, but he specialises in Myfords and according to his website has a couple of 7B + Norton's at the moment, one about £1385, 'Bed does have some wear'. Chances are price is the lathe only – no accessories or tooling thrown in – because he's a dealer.
