      Hi all

Just signed up today. Il have a good look around and listen to plenty of sound advice. Bought my first lathe this week and I’m sure help and advice will be found here. Wanted one for ages. Finally got sick of shaping things in the pillar drill. Going to get it set up this weekend seems as there’s naff all else to do. Needs a few bits sorting on it and a bit of love and tlc but nothing I can’t sort. I do fibre glass as a trade but grew up on a farm so I’m always tinkering and building things. Hence the ever expanding workshop. I know there a lot learn working the lathe but I’m quite patient and don’t mind spending the time.

      cheers

      Olly

                    Thanx for the welcome.
I’m from hemsworth. Just outside of Barnsley.

I managed to get a Chester crusader. It’s 9 years old. Came from a college and was used for training. Hence the need for a bit of tlc. Picked it up for a very reasonable price so I don’t mind doing work to it. Does anyone know where i can buy a manual for it and a parts list??
Also what’s the difference between the standard one and the deluxe one?? Is it a free key ring with a purchase?
Should be a nice project in itself restoring it back to full glory. Hardest part is going to be getting it in the garage with out the wife seeing it and asking where did that come from and why do I need it.

                      Hi Olly,

I am in wombwell, tother side of Barnsley.

I have ex training Boxford lathes so cant help with the Chester. But you should be able to get a manual either electronic version or paper. Especially as it's a relatively new machine.

If you need anything turning to get your machine is up and running give me a shout.

I'm a self taught tinkerer not an engineer but I will tackle most things.

Just rebuilt a garden tractor and made lots of replacement parts for it.

                      See thi after't lock darn.

                      Mick

                          Hi Oli,

You can download the manual from Chester

This is the product page **LINK**

This is the download link from that page **LINK**

For some reason the Crusader manual comes up as the Deluxe.

It could be worth doing some googling to see if Grizzly sold the same lathe. I have a Warco version of the Chester Craftsman and the Grizzly manual is much better.

Printed off the manual thank you. Also managed to find the DRO manual and printed that off. Office lady wasn’t too happy as it was 130 pages long. Actually got the lathe in the garage tonight with the use of the engine crane and truck. Ended up using the winch on the pick up and a snatch block at the back of the garage to drag it In. Didn’t realise they are so heavy. Looking forward to having a wee go. It will be something different. I’m pretty handy with a TIG welder which is what I normally tinker with. Can build radiators and pipes and fuel tanks steel,S/Steel or ally and crap like that So if any one needs a hand with stuff or a bit doing then give me a shout. I usually work for favours, knowledge or beer. Best way in this world. Also good with Diesel engines if anyone’s stuck. Rebuild, tuning and that.
