I thought I'd do that great leap of faith and finally register at this fine forum. Doing great so far – or so I think.

As for the more practical side of things I do a bit of everything, and sometimes succeed at something. I got some light machines, some heavier ones, some welding machines, a little foundry, some 3D printing stuff.. It tends to add up I've noticed.

Generally speaking I'm came into this the wrong way around from most people. I started out with 3D cad and modelling, and have gradually gone real life and physcial over the years.

Anyway, after years of popping by I finally signed up here.About time I figured.

Hi Vidar welcome to the forum, it sounds like you have experience to share on here. I always find it interesting what machinery members have and how they make it work for them and projects they have built.

Hello Vidar and welcome to this excellent forum. I've gone the opposite way, all my life has been on the practical manufacturing and quality side and now I'm learning to use Fusion 360 to aid miniature traction engine designing.

Thank you both for the reception.

Coming into this backwards I started out with a machining center. Back then it took me about a week to just get the thing turned on and the spindle turning… In hindsight it isn't really a recommended approach. After that other machines have come and some have gone again too.

These days I'm thinking of graduating to manual machines. I've come to appreciate old sturdy machines so I will most likely go in that direction.

Norwegian made 4 star film on BBC4 at 9pm tonight. 'The King's Choice' is about Haakon VII and the German invasion of Norway in 1940. Dramatic true story and the film has excellent reviews.

Thor and Vidar were brothers in the norse mythology. Thor got a weekday named after him, but poor Vidar just got me… 😛

I never got around to seeing that King's Choice movie. I'm from northern Norway so our wartime history focus is somewhat different than the south.

                      Welcome!

Whatever language you use, but my linguistic abilities are like my mechanical ones, VERY limited, and fading by the day

You sound to have lots of experience to contribute to the discussions on here, which add even more interest, and expand our knowledge.. The ideal place to increase our knowledge, on many subjects.

Beware, though, the Forum is addictive!.

I'll be happy to contribute my cents when I can, and equally happy to learn from the accumulated knowledge of this forum. I'm sure that is a winning trade for me by far.

As for language I'll just make this apology up ahead for the crimes I'll surely commit against the English language. I have no conscious idea about English grammars or anything anymore so I just type and hope for the best.

You've done pretty well so far!

Better than some of us indigenous speakers in terms of grammar.

Hi Patrice. I kind of stumbled backwards and head over heels into your thread, but I'm glad if I could contribute towards some inspiration or solution.

Your work looks real good so I certainly understand why all matter of marks will be an issue.
