Welcome along Kelly, I once worked on a mould tool for a plastic recorder. About 5 attempts to get the core for the inner hole to give the correct sound. Good luck with the flutes.

              Many thanks Brian and Chris.

Yes making reamers for conical and “wobbly” bores in flutes is going to be a challenge for sure. I will certainly check in forum discussion topics for information and advice when I get stuck.

              Regards

At the moment I am repairing a set of Bag Pipes, the little tube bits that join the parts of the drones and chanter are broken(plastic), and I am replacing them with brass.

                Welcome Kelly

Home made cutting tools can be fabulous and so satisfying to make and use. You will need to master off hand grinding and hardening tempering in due course.

Welcome along and ask away if stuck

                    Best regards Mick
