      Good morning everyone

Im New to the forum and thought I'd introduce myself.

I'm quite new to metal working and have a smart and brown model a lathe. Below is my first lathe a emcomat 7 with milling attachment.

Wish I'd kept this little lathe but it had to go as I wanted a larger one.

      This is my model A

This is the only pictures I have of it at the moment.

This is my startrite drill press.

And this is my little faircut. Currently restoring it is (slowly)

I'm enjoying making tooling at the moment, it's cheaper than buying it and in the process I'm learning how to ues the equipment I have.

I have no training in the art of turning or metal working but enjoy spending time in the garage learning from my mistakes. The small projects iv made are In one of the album's I've created, please have a look.

My next purchase will hopefully be a shaper (saving up for one at the moment). Something like a boxford of elliot m10 but thanks to abom79 and Steve summers on YouTube the prices seem to be on the up.

Anyway this is me saying hi and looking forward to joining in forum discussion, posting my projects and progress.

I'd also be interested in joining a local hobby engineers club if anyone knows of one local to me (Hull)

Hi Steve and welcome to the forum.

I started out very much like you with a few older machines and no training at all.

You'll be amazed how much you can learn by reading plenty of engineering books, consulting this forum when stuck and good old trial and error.

I've managed without being a club member, I did join a local steam railway club for a while but learned more about shoveling ballast and internal politics than actual machining.

Enjoy the new machinery and the new hobby,

          Best regards Mick

Welcome to the Forum Steve, nice people here and I think you will find them very helpful.

Hull has a Model Engineer Society, they meet in the New Walton Club, 243 Walton Street, I dont have a club contact number but they meet every other Wednesday and you can just turn up and introduce yourself. There is a meeting tonight 7.30pm.

            Ron
