Hi, just about to get into model making. Main interest is in stationary steam/hot air engines and I could be tempted to make a boat or three.

I will be picking your collective brains when I no doubt get stuck on things.

You make me wonder why I haven't ever combined my interests in model; steam engines and model boats!

One of my clubs is a combined model boat and model engineering club. The advantages are that you only have one sub to follow both interests, can move back and forth as you get bored with one, the club has twice as many members, and generally there is a broader range of interests covered. Quite often a new member who joins for one aspect will try the other and get hooked.

As far as I know it's all single interest clubs by me (Wirral), not really into trains (although the engineering fascinates me) so I think it's the boat club, and as a bonus they allow steamers on the municiple lake.
