Thanks for welcome. This forum looks like a great source of info. I have an 8mm watchmakers lathe and a poor condition bench lathe, a drill and a gravograph. All cheap purchases from auction site. Hopefully I can increase my machining knowledge and skills. Below is my current watch I wear (I made dial, hands, case, onto an AS1674 auto movement). watch 2.jpgI made last year so getting a bit tatty

Thank you Brian but the info you have researched and developed is way beyond my current skills and knowledge. Maybe one day!! I have worked on plenty of Walthams – current one attached which I repaired and tidied up last month

                  Hello Michael,

At least you know the information exists when you feel you need it. Waltham watch threads are far too fine for me, I am into the machinery itself, jigs and fixtures and so on, with a side order of commission work, in particular screw cutting gearboxes as well as support for Remap, the assistance charity for disabled folk.

The present gearbox is a genuine 115 year old Norton for an equally old American Hendey lathe for a UK collector.

It is only 10 years younger than the very first gearbox that Norton patented. There is much to do, it is a complete wreck with a bent leadscrew as well..

                  Regards Brian .
