      Good day, members.

I am retired wink, 78 years old, and live in Canada. My interests are all things mechanical, although I have never practised this in my career.

I started off with a little Emco lathe, and now I have a Taig micro lathe with cross-slide milling attachment.

My latest effort is in the Stationary Engine topic.

            Welcome Pierre,

I thought being cold was compulsory for Canucks?

              Hi Neil,

My blood is still warm from having lived in South Africa for 60 years. Fortunately my tiny workshop is situated in the boiler room of our house – nice and snug.

Boiler room or furnace room? Where are you? I was in Vancouver until 2014.

                  Hi Murray

My family call them either, But is actually where the central heating unit and hot water boiler are situated.

I reside in Nanaimo, Vancouver Island.

Aha, we passed through Nanaimo a few times on the way to Cotez Island, Tofino etc. I recall a bad smell and lots of feral rabbits? Was a big coal mining centre and helped to drive the gold rush, IIRC.

Really miss Canada but there again, we really missed the UK!

                    Best wishes

                    Murray

                        Hi Pierre,

I tried to retire several times, never really got it to work,so I gave it up and just had a "change of direction",it worked !

Now is the time to do what you want to do, good luck ! have fun.

                          Murray,

The bad smell was from the composting of saw dust from the saw mills as you enter the town. It is localized and never reaches the residential areas.

                          Larry,

That is exactly how I feel.

                          Pierre
