Hi there, I'm another new member to this site although I've been lurking for a while now. Situated just outside Southend with the obligatory shed/workshop, I am the custodian of a 1943 South Bend lathe plus all the usual tools. Currently rebuilding a Bridgeport Series 1 mill, I have just purchased a Hofmann dividing head, a UHT-100.
Now comes the question, has anyone ever dismantled one of these devices and seen how the hydraulic lock mechanism actually works ?
I think, looking at the operational instructions, that there is a part missing. Mine is the one with 'square' indexable handles and they talk about a 'pressure bolt'. On the bottom of the part the handle screws onto there is a threaded hole where I presume this bolt fits – who knows!
Any information from this forum would be much appreciated as trying to get any from Hofmann is proving difficult.
Regards, Andy
