Hello from a not so new member. I've been lurking in the background for a few years.

My name is Iain and I live in Pudsey. I've a modest workshop based in a detached garage. I have one of the generic Chinese 9 x 20 lathes, A Warco Economy mill, a small bench drill, a bench grinder and the usual hand tools.

My main interest is in just pottering around, making tools to make tools to make tools……

I suppose the main thing that sets me appart is that I am severly sight impaired. This means that it takes me a lot longer than most to setup jobs both in the lathe and the mill.

I've no doubt that I'll be bombarding you with questions in the near future.

When I were a lad we lived quite close to Pudsey. My old man reckoned that there were treacle mines in Pudsey, and that the ducks flew backwards to keep the soot out of their eyes. No doubt the clean air act has eased the lot of the ducks, but how are the treacle mines doing?

My Grandma used to take me to play on the Pudsey roller when I was a nipper.

I don't know about the Treacle Mines, but there is certainly a Rhubarb Triangle.

Of course it was pigeons, memory fading obviously, the ducks were too busy peeking on the wimwams

Can you imagine what Elfin Safety would say today if you put that in a kids playground, but as far as I remember, nobody died!
