Hi,
I'm James and I have just bought a treadle powered Drummond M from ebay – it came complete with the stand, flywheel and treadle, but they are out of shot. I have bought it to help us restore our Harris Tweed treadle weaving looms and build a few simple machines we need for the weaving studio.
I look to be only the third owner, as the person I bought it from knows his father bought it from the first owner in 1953.
It is completely covered in grease, but beneath lurks a pretty good machine. It's had a less than perfect paint job at some point, but you cannot have it all. I would love to spend a month removing all the old paint, repainting and polishing all the metal work to a high shine, but the old girl needs to earn her keep quickly. So I have allocated a few days to stripping her down and cleaning her up, ready for use. Then it's time to start the learning curve.
Kind regards,
James
